So this is the new year

First day of the year, first post in the blog. Hooray for beginnings.

For those of you tuning in, I'm Joanne (although most of you should probably know that by now, as I will probably have directed you to this blog to read about my adventures - or misadventures - studying abroad in France and beyond). At the beginning of this blog I am twenty years old. It is January 1, 2008, and I am leaving for Paris in ten days. I have been dreaming of this day since I was six years old, when my aunt Ruth came to America, took care of me for a while, and always told me stories about her years working in France.
